Tap

All of our classes are great for extra curriculum activities to enhance and complement GSCE subjects such as creative arts and performing arts.

All students participating in our dance classes have an opportunity in performing in our annual dance production!

Tap evolved as an American dance form, popularised throughout the world, with debate about its origins coming from African dance, Irish dance, and/or clog dancing. The dancers use their feet to strike the floor, beating out different rhythms, wearing tap shoes, which have small metal plates on the toe and heel to give the distinctive sound. Tap dance features lots of shifting of weight, which improves your balance, coordination, and core control, these are skills that are needed in all forms of dance. Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on stage in musicals such as West End hits like 42nd Street and Anything Goes!

Our tap classes follow the ISTD syllabus. Exams are optional.
